Bio

faith smith

Born and raised in Virginia Beach, Faith Smith currently lives in Acworth, where she studies dance as a Dance Major, with a concentration in modern, at Kennesaw State University. She received training, most recently, at Rhythm Dance Center, where she trained in contemporary, jazz, hiphop, tap, ballet, pointe, and musical theater. She was selected to perform in Christian Denice's "Arena" at the American College Dance Association (ACDA), where it was adjudicated and selected to reperform in the gala. Faith performed this past summer in the KSU Dance Company's Double Exposure Concert, where she was selected to be in Gianna Burright's "Ever." Her most recent performance, however, was in the KSU Dance Company's Fall Concert Labyrinth, where she performed in "knot love" by Yankalle Filtser. Along with being a KSU Dance ambassador, she was recently named the Vice President of the KSU Dance Company. Faith also received the Eleo Pomare and Glenn Connor Memorial Scholarship this past year, helping her to continue her dance education at KSU.

Artist Statement

Flowing, growing, expressing, and releasing is the dance of my heart. From my first baby ballet class with the little pink shoes to my first college dance class, dance has been the constant light in my life. From moving states to switching schools, dance has always been there to keep me afloat. I dance from my heart and the rest follows. I attempt to stay true to my flowy and grounded style while also maintaining technique and actively seeking to learn something new whenever I get the chance. I strive to be a committed, lifelong student who values community, kindness, respect, and creativity. I step into every day with determination and focus ready to express my emotions and grow as a dancer and person. Through my love for dance, I hope to release and contribute light, passion, and inspiration to this beautiful world.
